extension-knife-02bp0003
Boker Plus Extension Knife

'Extension knives have a long history in hunting. When closed, the handle covers half the cutting edge while the other half protrudes beyond it, allowing the knife to perform typical “red work” tasks such as gutting, skinning and chopping. Opened, the blade length is well suited to dispatching or catching wounded game, an outcome fortunately uncommon. Extension knives lock in both the open and closed positions and are legally treated as folding knives, so they are not subject to the 12 cm blade limit that applies to fixed blades. The Boker Plus Extension Knife is locked but requires two hands to open, and under § 42a of the German Weapons Act it can be carried freely despite its substantial 18.5 cm blade. A rare modern interpretation of the classic extension knife, it was designed by Wilfried Hein, a little-known but inventive constructor who has advised German authorities on weapon-technology requirements and driven many detailed developments. The knife features a robust D2 blade that locks with a large cross bolt both open and closed; the bolt can be screwed into the handle without tools for added rigidity when fully extended or shortened. Because it must be opened with two hands, the design represents a pure two-handed knife. The handle, made from two thick steel plates and milled G10, echoes the double-T grips of 14th–15th century Baselards, and the butt is fitted with a sturdy striking spike. The knife is delivered with a custom-molded Kydex sheath.'

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0950/1930/3241/files/boeker-plus-extension-knife-02bp0003.jpg?v=1764159936
