The blade is a rescue hook with a rounded tip to reduce the risk of accidental injury during self- or third-party rescue. An inner radius behind the tip makes it easy and intuitive to clip harnesses, cords and kernmantle ropes and to cut clothing from injured people. A toothed serrated section on the rear half of the edge allows cutting thick or encrusted ropes. D2 steel was chosen for the blade for its exceptional edge retention in pull-cut tasks. The aluminum handle features pronounced finger grooves and a textured surface for secure grip with low weight and high strength. A steeply tapered glass breaker with a tungsten carbide core is included for breaking side windows; it is screw-threaded for easy replacement.
