'Dressing stone for flattening and truing sharpening stones, featuring cross grooves to collect abrasive debris. Both natural and synthetic sharpening stones tend to wear inward over time and develop a hollowed surface; this dressing stone restores and maintains a flat, true surface. It can also be used to generate abrasive slurry from an existing stone. Sharpening with slurry uses so-called "rolling grain," which can achieve a sharper, finer edge faster at the same grit than using only the stone’s surface. Suitable for Japanese waterstones of any grit and for soft-bound natural stones (for example Belgian Coticule). Not suitable for Arkansas stones, synthetic ceramic stones, or diamond plates. Soak both the sharpening stone and the dressing stone thoroughly in water, rub them together in circular motions until the desired result is achieved, and keep both stones wet throughout the process.
