Boker Plus Appalachian Axe Small

'The Boker Plus Appalachian axes feature a Rhenish-style head made from 1055 carbon steel, a grade that offers higher-than-average carbon content and quality for axes. The 10.7 cm cutting edge includes a lower tip (heel) that can be used as a turning nose for working wood, and the head is lacquered to resist rust. Both models use a 600 g head weight. Handles are made from high-quality, long-fiber American hickory, which provides superior elasticity and shock resistance compared with European ash; each handle is double-wedged with a wooden wedge and a steel sleeve. The Appalachian Big and Appalachian Small differ only in handle length: the smaller model has a 35.5 cm hickory handle, making it easier to carry or attach to a rucksack and well suited to longer, fatigue-free one-handed work such as cutting kindling for cooking fires. Historically, axes of this type were called "kitchen axes" when wood was used to fuel household hearths. A leather sheath is not included.'
