'Whether for the cozy fire in your home stove or a campfire by the tent, the practical Böker Plus Appalachian Origin Mini Axe is a compact, versatile tool for camping and household use. Like the other models in the series, its head is a Rhenish-style design forged from 1055 carbon steel. There are three main differences: while the Small and Big models use robust, all-purpose axe grinds, the Origin Mini’s edge is finished with a polished knife grind that also allows for carving tasks such as making feather sticks. The axe head is left with a forged, rough surface, and the handle is made from long-fiber ash, which transmits less vibration to the user’s hand than hickory. Historically, this type of axe was used to split small firewood for household stoves and outdoor cooking—hence the older trade name “kitchen axe.” The leather sheath (09BO257) is not included and can be ordered separately.'
