'The sword’s owner was a blind hiker. A peaceful man, he relied on the blade for protection and defeated opponents through skill and courage. The sword has no tsuba and is styled like a shirasaya. Two small, discreet notches on one side of the handle indicate which way the cutting edge faces. The straight blade is made of 1045 carbon steel rather than bearing a traditional curve. Both the wooden handle and sheath are elaborately painted. This is a decorative or collector’s piece and not suitable for use.'
