'Responding to many requests for a version without a fire starter, we developed the Boker BRONCO Basic. Designed as a capable fixed outdoor knife, it combines modern technical standards with practical functionality for a wide range of users.\n\nThe BRONCO Basic targets professional outdoor users—bushcrafters, campcrafters, survivalists, long-distance hikers, hunters, SAR teams and similar—offering universal, reliable performance. The blade is made from CPM-3V, a powder-metallurgical steel from Crucible Industries, engineered for exceptional shock resistance, fracture toughness and splinter resistance while delivering outstanding edge retention. Heat-treated to about 61±1 HRC and alloyed with roughly 7.5% chromium, it achieves high wear resistance and hardenability while maintaining a fine microstructure.\n\nBlade geometry is a broad drop point with a high-set sabre grind, a shape favored by hunters for both delicate tasks like feathering and heavier work such as batoning. A short section of the spine forms sharp 90° edges on both sides for use with an optionally available fire starter. The knife features a full tang that projects a few millimetres beyond the handle for maximum strength and to withstand heavy blows.\n\nThe handle is molded in TPE (thermoplastic elastomer) which fully encapsulates the tang. TPE provides a secure, non-slip grip in all directions, remains comfortable during prolonged use, is elastic, resistant, and has low thermal conductivity so it does not draw heat from the hand in cold conditions. Compared with conventional elastomers, TPE production is less environmentally demanding because it avoids energy-intensive vulcanization.\n\nA high-quality quiver leather sheath secures the knife with a deep, firm fit, protecting it from loss and damage without relying on a fragile retention catch. A removable dangler allows carrying either high on the belt or low beneath a backpack hip belt. Manufactured entirely in Solingen, Germany, the Boker BRONCO Basic aims to be a compact, versatile and essential wilderness and survival tool offered at a moderate price.'
