Spyderco COBOL

'Paul Alexander is among Spyderco\'s most popular and prolific designers. After introducing his first non-locking folder, the NAND, he explored a "techno-primitive" aesthetic that merges sleek, futuristic lines with classic simplicity. That approach inspired the COBOL, which pairs his Ball Joint Non-Locking Mechanism with a more dramatic, Asian-influenced appearance. The upswept blade fuses traditional Japanese tanto elements with the katana-like tip of an American tanto. Machined from particle-metallurgical M390, the blade features a saber-grind primary bevel that transitions into a flat grind at the faceted tip, while an extended projection at the spine enables one-handed opening much like a classic straight razor. \n\nThe handle uses solid titanium scales with integrated spring arms and ball bearings; as the knife opens the bearings engage holes in the blade to hold it in place. Applying pressure to the blade tip and using the pronounced groove at the base of the blade add further control. For full ambidextrous use, the COBOL includes a reversible deep-pocket wire clip configured for tip-up carry.'
