'The legendary Spartan king earned his fame at Thermopylae. Spartan life was defined by strict discipline, hardship and relentless weapons training, so their characteristic sword was naturally an imposing, formidable weapon. This piece features a wide, duckbill-shaped blade forged from 1045 carbon steel with a satin finish (despite the catalogue description), a broad beveled edge and a sharply ground cutting surface. The heavy handguard is formed as an open bow-style knuckle guard to help prevent the hand slipping onto the blade or losing the sword in combat. It includes an elaborately made brown synthetic leather sheath. Decorative collector’s sword — not intended for functional use.'
