CPM-SPY27, developed in collaboration with Crucible Industries, is a cobalt-enriched powder-metallurgy steel that combines toughness, corrosion resistance, edge retention, and easy sharpening. Exclusive to Spyderco, it forms the core of the Manix 2 XL — one of the company’s largest and most impressive folding knives — which features a wide, fully flat-ground blade designed to make the most of the steel’s properties. The blade is secured by a high-strength ball-bearing lock and the handle includes skeletonized stainless-steel liners, removable cobalt-blue G-10 scales, a lanyard hole, and a reversible tip-up pocket clip.
