'The classically elegant Boker MG-42 Damascus Dagger adds another jewel to Boker’s line of Damascus steel creations. Inspired by the historic MG-42 machine gun—renowned for its revolutionary stamped-sheet-metal production, exceptional reliability, lightning-fast rate of fire and simplified mass-production design—the dagger echoes that heritage in form and detail. The original MG-42 was developed as a successor to the complex-to-produce MG-34: engineer Werner Gruner of the Johannes Großfuß factory led the redesign to prioritize manufacturability using sheet-metal stampings and fewer machined parts, producing a weapon more reliable and far quicker to build. Its features—rapid barrel changes, a cam-controlled roller shutter, and a raw cyclic rate of about 1,500 rounds per minute (later reduced to roughly 700 rpm by adding mass to the breech)—helped make the MG-42 a defining design; in modified form it remains in service as the German Army’s MG 3. Original wartime MG-42s command prices around USD 40,000–60,000 at Rock Island Auctions.\n\nThe dagger’s blade is forged by long-time partner Chad Nicols from Damascus steel into a double-edged form with subtle fullers on both faces. The chosen Low Layer Raindrop pattern (40 layers) is beautifully highlighted by the blade’s symmetric profile. The guard (toggle) and pommel are solid stainless steel; the pommel incorporates the cooling-fin and gas-outlet motif of the MG-42’s recoil amplifier—a decorative nod to the firearm that also improves grip in the reverse hold. The guard and pommel joinlessly enclose a turned, barrel-shaped roll of hornbeam wood that naturally centers in the hand.\n\nThe dagger comes with a high-quality dark-brown leather sheath featuring a belt loop and reinforcement, and is presented in an elegant frame case that gives a floating display effect. Each piece is delivered with a certificate of authenticity and an individual serial number.'
