Boker Vigtig vs. Wild

'Two streamers in the wilderness — knives instead of controllers, hunger instead of Happy Slice Pizza — sounds absurd, but it’s real. Trymacs (29) from Hamburg and Rumathra (27) from Bonn will team up for the upcoming season of 7 vs. Wild, taking on a 14-day survival challenge in the Canadian wilderness. Together they command over 4 million Twitch followers (Trymacs 3.4 million, Rumathra 0.7 million) and also maintain strong channels on YouTube and Instagram. \n\nChoosing the right gear was essential for their prep, especially because everything had to fit into a single 1 L Nalgene bottle. Working with Rumathra, who visited our Solingen workshop several times, we designed and built a bespoke knife specifically for the expedition. The new model is based on the Boker Plus Vigtig by Dave Wenger: at 19.7 cm total length and a 4 mm blade thickness it not only fits the bottle but is built for demanding outdoor use. The blade steel is Magnacut, a steel developed specifically for knives and praised as a "miracle steel"; it delivers a very fine microstructure with high toughness and shock-resistance despite a high chromium content of 10.7% and an impressive hardenability of over 61–62 HRC. Finished in stonewash with a True-Scandi grind, the blade handles everything from delicate carving and camp tasks to batoning, chopping and game processing. \n\nTo maximize space in the Nalgene bottle, the two green canvas Micarta handle scales were slimmed down compared with the original while still providing a secure wet grip. A special feature is hidden inside the handle: instead of hollow pins, the two large screws can be removed with a coin to reveal a storage cavity about 14 mm deep (relative to the handle’s outer dimensions) for tweezers, tinder, charcoal tablets, a fishing kit, safety pins and similar small items. Even as a skeletonized knife without the scales, the Solingen-made Boker Vigtig vs. Wild shows off its versatility. The package is completed by a compact black Kydex sheath with a clip.'
