'The various versions of the Boker Applegate-Fairbairn have proven themselves to special forces worldwide and have become icons among tactical knives. Based on the classic World War II Fairbairn-Sykes dagger, it was developed by Col. Rex Applegate, who coordinated covert operations across Europe, served as President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s personal guard, trained Allied Special Forces in close combat, and founded the “School for Spies and Assassins” at what is now Camp David. He later worked as a consultant and instructor, wrote extensively on close-quarters combat, and kept refining the ideal fighting knife. The Boker Applegate-Fairbairn Black is the official combat knife of German special forces; police and military units value the all-black version for operational use.
