'On closer inspection, striking and unusual products often conceal an extraordinary story, and it\'s fortunate that companies like Tops are willing to turn those stories into real items outside the mainstream. Martial arts specialist Sijo Waysun Johnny Tsai has long been captivated by the game, comic and movie character Snake Eyes from Hasbro\'s G.I. Joe. Inspired by Snake Eyes\' katana, Sijo spent years developing an optimal, highly functional sword that could serve both as a weapon and a jungle tool—a genuine replacement for an axe or machete. The result is the two-handed Cuma Kage, with an overall length of 24" (61 cm), which Sijo determined through training to be the ideal length for swords, truncheons and batons. The blade, widened in the front third and made of shock-resistant 1095 carbon steel, is precisely balanced and features three stepped fullers. Double-layer canvas micarta scales in black and brown are mounted to the robust full tang with four hex-socket screws. The machete’s practicality is completed by a custom-fitting Kydex sheath with a dangler. Comic artist Robert Atkins even used the Cuma Kage as the model for Snake Eyes’ sword in the new G.I. Joe comics.'
