The latest addition to the Byrd line is the Gooney, a model that departs noticeably from its siblings. Its unusual blade profile blends elements of the Sheepfoot, hawkbill and reverse‑S shapes to produce an exceptionally adaptable cutting edge. Created by Spyderco co‑founder Sal Glesser, the blade is crafted from 9Cr14MoV stainless steel and ground full flat for smooth, low‑friction cutting. It locks with a robust back lock and sits in a linerless handle fitted with gray, removable G10 scales. The handle includes a four‑way reversible pocket clip that can be set for tip‑up or tip‑down carry on either side, accommodating every carry preference, and a large lanyard hole at the butt allows easy attachment of tags, lanyards or safety lines.
