P-51 Damast

'Timeless engineering meets storied history. Inspired by the legendary North American P-51 Mustang, the Boker Plus P-51 Damast — designed by Steve Kelly — is a characterful designer knife that echoes the materials, shapes and colors of the 1940s fighter, approaching a miniature replica of the historic aircraft. Produced between 1940 and 1948 in roughly 15,800 examples (the P-51D being the most common series at nearly 8,000 units), the Mustang’s aerodynamic all-metal construction, characteristic countersunk studs and powerful Packard Merlin V-1650 engine enabled top speeds around 700 km/h and ranges up to 3,300 km — achievements that helped secure Allied air superiority in WWII. Armed in its day with six 0.50 Browning MG53-2 machine guns and the option to carry rockets or bombs, the Mustang’s unmistakable lines inspired Boker’s team to translate that design language into a practical, elegant knife. The P-51 Damast centers on a distinctive spearpoint blade of 80-layer Damascus, forged in the U.S. by Chad Nichols and incorporating original material from the historic fighter. Design cues continue in the thumb hole, which recalls the cockpit’s Plexiglas canopy, and in the titanium handle that reproduces the aircraft’s studded light-metal panels. Accents include a blue blade axle screw bearing the US Army’s Silver Star and red anodized screws echoing the tail rudder’s colors. A titanium framelock with a stainless-steel inlay keeps the blade secure under heavy use, while ergonomic cutouts ensure a comfortable grip. The solid-machined titanium clip permits tip-up (right) carry and a lanyard hole adds attachment options.
