'British knife maker Mike Read focuses on designing advanced non-locking folding knives. His first Spyderco collaboration, the PITS (short for "Pie in the Sky," Read’s forum username), reshaped the style of these knives. The PITS 2 advances that design with a distinctive non-locking system that uses two spring arms built into the handle scales. The front ends of those arms support the blade pivot and flex as the blade opens, generating pressure in the notched pivot that bears against the stop pin. The solid titanium handle scales are matched with a satin-finished blade of Böhler-Uddeholm M398 particle metallurgy stainless steel, ground completely flat. The PITS 2’s symmetrical layout is a clear embodiment of Spyderco’s SLIPIT concept, and it comes with a reversible tip-up pocket clip.'
