Boker Sherman EDC

'Building on the success of the Boker M4 Sherman Damascus—which owes its appeal to both the storied Damascus steel and a contemporary folder design—we created a refined EDC featuring a titanium framelock. Although the blade is made using powder metallurgy, it still includes a genuine piece of M4 Sherman Damascus. For the Sherman EDC’s main blade we chose Magnacut, a steel developed specifically for knives and often praised as a “miracle steel.” Magnacut resolves the usual trade-offs between edge retention, toughness, and corrosion resistance: despite a high chromium content (10.7%) and the ability to reach 61–62 HRC, it achieves a very fine microstructure and excellent toughness through the controlled addition of nitrogen and sophisticated heat treatment that integrates nitrogen into the crystal lattice. \n\nA key design change from the M4 Damascus model is the elegantly integrated flipper, which lets the ball-bearing blade open smoothly with a light flick; the blade can also be opened with the thumb stud and is secured by a robust stonewashed titanium framelock. An overdrive stop protects the lock from over-extension. The handle is completed by a milled titanium clip (tip-up, right) with a steel ball and striking wild carbon fiber scales. A special highlight is the protruding Damascus backspacer with an elongated, slotted lanyard hole: forged by Chad Nichols from assorted materials from M4 Sherman tank production in a Customized Ladder pattern, it evokes the tracks left by the tank’s heavy chains.'
