'As early as the 15th and 16th centuries, Swiss pikemen commonly carried the Swiss dagger—sometimes called a baselard—whose blade length placed it between a dagger and a short sword. Typically a secondary weapon, it was usually not issued by commanders and had to be purchased privately by soldiers. \n\nThis edition features Mosaic Damascus, a highly complex successor to Twisted Damascus and part of the most prestigious class of Damascus forging. Unlike conventional Damascus, Mosaic Damascus is not created by simple layering. Instead, multiple Damascus billets are cut, staggered and reassembled into a mosaic, producing distinctive end-face patterns. Those billets are then cut and reworked repeatedly so the pattern becomes progressively finer and more intricate. The individual pieces are finally stacked and forged into a square form so the ends of the segments produce a new surface. Precise control of forging temperature, shaping, and deformation rate throughout the repeated steps is essential. This demanding technique—mastered by only a few smiths—was executed for our Swiss dagger by Chad Nichols.\n\nHistorically, these daggers often had a diamond-shaped cross-section, and the double-edged, pointed blade used here follows that stable, effective design. The distinctive curved shape of the pommel and crossguard, traceable to the early 13th century, is reproduced in this handmade edition. The lustrous dark handle is crafted from selected, certified imported ebony and is framed by a highly polished pommel and crossguard to complement the refined blade. A specially designed, hand-sewn leather sheath underscores the piece’s exclusivity. Each dagger is delivered with an individual serial number in an elegant wooden box and accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. Handmade at the Boker Knife Manufactory in Solingen and strictly limited to 500 pieces worldwide.'
