Boker Tirpitz-Damast Gold

'On April 1, 1939 the battleship Tirpitz, named for Fleet Admiral Alfred von Tirpitz, was launched in Wilhelmshaven. No larger battleship has been built in Europe since. Eighty years on, Boker presents the special edition Tirpitz-Damascus Gold as a reminder of the two World Wars and the peace Europe has experienced since 1945. In memory of the countless victims—especially the crew of the Tirpitz—€10 from the sale of each knife will be donated to the War Graves Commission.\n\nThe Tirpitz was sunk off the Norwegian coast in 1944. After the war, a Norwegian company salvaged parts of the wreck to repurpose the highly alloyed steel for civilian use; Boker received sections of the recovered armor. Their Damascus smith forged these pieces into an exclusive heritage steel. The Boker Tirpitz-Damascus Gold features a 300-layer, hand-forged Tirpitz-Damascus blade in the “Great Pyramid” pattern, plated entirely with gold for a subtle, eye-catching sheen. The thumbstud, blade and handle screws, spacers, liner, clip and replacement clip plate are also gold-plated. The blade locks on a 1.5 mm linerlock, and the repositionable clip supports tip-up or tip-down carry. The handle includes a domestic walnut inlay engraved with the Tirpitz coat of arms and name.\n\nEach knife in this special edition blends history, remembrance and modern craftsmanship. Handmade by Boker in Solingen, it is delivered in a presentation case with an individual serial number and a certificate of authenticity.'
